African Madness and Top Model Beauty

Salamu

Being a journalist I see some SERIOULY MAD SHIT. I mean seriously mad.

My first experience of this was when I went to Zimbabwe for the first time and took an afternoon walk in downtown Harare. As useual in Africa there were a lot of stray dogs running around.

But the parity between the stray dogs and domestic dogs in Africa is usually in balance. But not so in Zimbabwe. I had to almost rub my eyes and pinch myself to see if I was dreaming when I saw people walking down the street with domesticated warthogs on leashes!

Again, when I went to the DRC the way people were scared of me fascinated me to no end. When I asked our guide what was the matter he said: “look around you my friend. How many white people do you see? And how many tall heavily built people do you see?” My height and size combined with me being white scared the kak out of these people.

Back in SA, next week is the Midmar Mile, which is a 1,5 km open water swim across the Midmar Dam. And as useual they have overseas participants as drawcards to the event.

This year will feature a man who is unique in every way.

After conquering the Amazon, Mississippi, Danube and Yangtze Rivers, Martin Strel said he is looking forward to the challenge of the world’s largest open water swimming event.

“It took me 66 days to swim the 5 268 kilometers on the river. Everyone said I was going to die, and I survived. I had escort boats that were prepared to pour blood into the river to distract piranhas,” he said.
He added that it his love for swimming that motivates him to take one what some may describe as crazy. “Swimming is one of the best ways to keep healthy, there is no pressure on the joints and it is one of the few sports where you can have fun while doing it,” he said with a smile.

But this is not the only motivation that he has. Strel pointed out that raising social awareness plays a hand in what he does.

Strel said that the reason for swimming the Amazon was to raise awareness on deforestation.

He took on the 2 888 km Danube river in 1995 at the end of the Yugoslav Wars to raise awareness of the war and the effect it had on surviving families and in 2002 after the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center, Strel swam 3 885 km down the Mississippi river to raise awareness on terrorism.
He added that the Yangtze (4 003 km) and Parana (3 998 km) swims were done because people said that he could not do it.

Although Stel has swam 20 042 km, there are no immediate plans to take on Africa’s giant, the Nile.
“Why must I swim the Nile? I have already swum the longest river in the world (The Amazon),” he said.
However, the debate continues as to which river is longest. According to Wikipedia, the Nile is still the longest river in the world and is only 250 km longer then the Amazon. But some experts believe that the true source of the Nile is in Ethiopia and not Burundi as is currently the case which would make the Amazon longer.

From one thing to another, I am a big fan of FHM in fact I am a HUGE fan. To me there is nothing more beautiful then admiring the female form.

I don’t usually do this, but voting is currently open for FHM South Africa’s top model and I have stumbled across a gem of a lady Adele Coetzee.

Not only is she breathtakingly beautiful, but she is the most humble person in the world as well. Every time someone pay’s her a complement on her FB profile she returns it with a thank you. A lot of guys would give their eye teeth to have a girlfriend who is as breathtaking as her with her personality. It’s like she knows she is destined for great things but is not letting it get to her head.

Those who don’t believe me please have a look at these photo’s.

Here is the link to her site on FHM South Africa! Now get voting. From time to time I get a guilty conscience telling me I need to do some work rather then vote for Adele. But that goes away very quickly when I see more pictures of her! its very easy. Just click on the vote button. YOU CANT MISS IT!
